Hi Carla! and so the best part of extract making begins! You can certainly combine your used beans in a Mother Jar, that’s one of the wonderful things about a mother jar. We would recommend that you don’t mix spirits though. Enjoy decanting and using your homemade vanilla extracts!

I have Sooo many jars, Ready to decant, I’m " Stuck"! With over 60 jars, with either Double fold or single fold, can I decant, and Start a Monster Mother Jar, of the beans I remove??! Thanks in advance ❤️

Oh no Judy, I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s best to test extracts in some milk/cream or with some sugar, have you tried tasting by:

Using a small glass (a shot glass is perfect), place 2-3 drops of your extract at the bottom of the glass. Then, add 2 tablespoons of milk (whatever milk is in your fridge) to the shot glass. Stir and let sit for 3-5 minutes.

Hopefully all is not lost and the extract will taste good this way. If not please feel free to get in touch, telling us more about how you made your extract and hopefully we’ll be able to help.

I am practical. I love to bake and I would like to learn how to make vanillas to enhance my baked goods and share them with people. I would love to learn the best practices and not have to learn by trial and error as this can be an expensive hobby.

— Kathie Hansen

It was difficult for me to answer some of the questions. I’ve tried several different combinations and have loved them all!
