Introducing, The Sentani. A beautiful grade-B Tahitensis vanilla bean from the Papua region of Indonesia.
For homemade ice cream, fruit tarts, custards, pies and creams, Sentani Indonesian Tahitensis vanilla is a a perfect application.
These Vanilla Beans are of the highest quality and have a rich, bold, spicy, floral, anise and berry aroma. We named these beans after the beautiful city of Sentani in the western region of Papua Indonesian where these amazing beans are grown.
Sentani Indonesian grade-B beans are much more dry than grade-A but still with a strong vanilla scent. Grade-B vanilla beans are ideal for extract-making and vanilla bean powder. They are usually between 4" and 6" inches long and have a dark brown color.
When you first open a pouch of Sentani vanilla, your nose will be met with an aroma that is bold, and teases allspice, orange and blackberry. When you remove the first bean from the pouch and bring it to your nose, the distinct vanilla base will present itself with hints of tropical flowers, reminiscent of the paradise where the bean is grown. Also a reminder that these durable little vanilla beans come from a delicate, beautiful orchid. Finally, a Sentani vanilla bean extract will have complex spicy and berry notes under its bold vanilla taste that will enhance the taste of creams, custards and fruit-based desserts with a crisp accent of sweetness not present in traditional vanilla. These beautiful Sentani beans are truly an experience in and of themselves.
(This is the Indonesian coast line of Sentani. A beautiful tropical paradise in the "Bean Belt" where vanilla beans can be harvested year-round.)
VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place.
On average, there are 6-15 beans/oz depending on the moisture content of the specific batch of vanilla beans. (Many more beans than grade-A, since they are lighter due to the lower moisture content.) Pricing reflects current market conditions and will be updated as market prices change.
