Homemade Almond Extract is super easy to make at home and only requires 2 ingredients! It is great for flavoring frostings, putting it in fresh cherry pie, making homemade cookies, the sky is the limit! We use apricot kernels which are used to flavor amaretto, marzipan and almond extract.
- 1/2 cup of apricot pits
- 1 cup of Vodka - The best type of vodka to use for homemade extracts is good strong vodka, 80% proof, or higher. The brand I used was Absolute Vodka.
Wash and dry the apricot pits. When you’ve gathered enough, crack the pits open.
Roughly chop the apricot kernels and put them in a glass jar.
Cover them with vodka and seal the jar tightly.
Store the homemade almond extract in a cool and dark place, shaking the jar occasionally. Homemade almond extract is ready for use after 2 or 3 months.
