Christi is a member of our private Facebook group, Making Vanilla Extract by VanillaPura. Earlier this week, she shared her recipe for Apple Extract which we thought would be perfect to share with fall not being too far away! This extract would be the perfect addition to baked goods, hot apple cider, and more! We are excited to share this recipe in her own words and pictures.
- 5 cups of freeze-dried apples
- about 3 cups of vodka
- Place 2 cups of the freeze-dried apples and the 3 cups of vodka in a glass jar with a lid.
- Change out the apples: - At 1 week: Remove old apples and add 1 cup of new dried apples - At 2 weeks, discard the old apples and add 1 cup new dried apples. At 3 weeks, same thing once more. (apples absorb a lot of liquid, you will yield 1 cup of extract when finished)
- Strain, run threw coffee filter and done! The extract takes about 5 weeks to be done.
Note: I'm also making a vanilla apple as well, however its not done yet. Any questions please feel free to ask I'm more than willing to answer.
