Rare Huahine Tahitian Vanilla Beans from French Polynesia

The Huahine Tahitian vanilla bean is beautiful and extremely difficult to obtain. It is cultivated and harvested in small quantity given the small geographic regions where they are grown on the island of Huahine in French Polynesia, Tahiti. These premium Grade A V. tahitensis vanilla beans offer a light fruit, cherry/chocolate aroma with sweet vanilla, licorice, caramel, floral, chocolate flavor.Β

Exceptionally Plump Beans Rich in Oils & Caviar

This particular bean can be plump and sometimes 2-3 times as plump as other beans which typically means more rich, wonderful oils and a lot of lovely caviar, making this bean a VanillaPura favorite. It's not always as long as many Tahitian varieties, but its quality shines through its rich oils and abundance of caviar.

Premium Quality from Proud Tahitian Farmers

The local farmers take great pride in the production of these vanilla beans (much like our Tongan farmers) and they simply don't sell them for low prices. They know that their beans are rare, elegant, beautiful and of the highest quality that you can expect. At VanillaPura, we are proud to support farmers that put as much emphasis on quality as these farmers do. French Polynesia is a fairly developed and sophisticated region of the world, so harvesting costs are more expensive, but the quality is exceptional.

Named After the Island of Huahine

We named this vanilla bean The Huahine (pronounced Wa-ee-nee) which is the name of the island where this vanilla bean is grown. It's a beautiful paradise, and one of the 118 islands that make up French Polynesia.

Cherry, Chocolate & Tropical Fruit Aroma

When you first open a pouch of Huahine Tahitian vanilla, your nose will be met with an aroma that is bold and teases of a cherry/chocolate blend with hints of tropical flowers. When you remove the first bean from the pouch and bring it to your nose, the distinct vanilla base will present itself with undertones of tropical fruit, reminiscent of the paradise where the bean is grown.

Complex Extract with Cherry, Chocolate & Caramel Notes

A Huahine Tahitian vanilla bean extract will have complex fruity notes under its bold vanilla taste with a conspicuous scent of cherry, chocolate and caramel that will enhance the taste of homemade ice creams, fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, creams and custards with an elegant accent of sweetness not present in traditional vanilla.

Perfect for Homemade Vanilla Extract

For homemade vanilla extract, use the ratio of 1oz of beans for every 8oz of alcohol. For light spirits (vodka, white rum, gin), age up to 1 year. For dark spirits (bourbon, dark rum, brandy), age 18 months to 2 years for optimal flavor development. Visit our spirit pairing guide for detailed recommendations.

Tahitian Vanilla Bean Specifications

On average, there are 4-6 beans per ounce depending on the moisture content of the specific batch of vanilla beans. There can be as few as 2-3 beans or as many as 10 beans depending on each harvest, which is why we sell by weight and not by bean count. The exceptional plumpness of these beans means you get more oils and caviar per bean.

Why Huahine Tahitian Vanilla is So Expensive

Huahine Tahitian vanilla beans are among the most expensive vanilla beans in the world due to several factors: extremely limited growing regions on a small island, small-scale cultivation, high labor costs in French Polynesia, exceptional quality with 2-3 times the plumpness of other beans, and proud farmers who refuse to compromise on quality. This is truly a premium, rare vanilla experience.

Premium Quality and Freshness

VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place. Pricing reflects current market conditions and will be updated as market prices change.
