VanillaPura's V. planifolia Albius Vanilla Beans are of the highest quality and boast a flavor that is unique to the French island of Reunion. In fact, no other vanilla bean that we have introduced to date comes with characteristics of earthy caramel and honey, a sweet blend that could only be grown in the tropics of this small island off the eastern coast of Madagascar in the Indian ocean.

We named this beautiful vanilla bean after the 12-year-old slave that invented the process of hand pollinating vanilla orchids in 1841. It's because of him that we even have vanilla beans today. His name is one that all extract makers and vanilla connoisseurs should not quickly forget. A pioneer in our industry whose contribution to our world is a wave of vanilla bean sweetness that covers the earth. Every single commercial vanilla bean farm in the world today uses Edmund's technique.
