Can I use freeze dried strawberries, and if so measurements of the freeze dried strawberries and alcohol kind and amount please.
Thank you.

I live in Canada and I was wondering what would be the Canadian equivalent to Everclear? Also I was wondering if I could use freeze dried strawberries? Thank you 😊

— Celine Beaudette

Hi Serrina,

Not sure why your strawberries would have been hard. If submerged in the alcohol, they should be mushy and soft.
— VanillaPura Pro

My strawberries were hard not mushy. I used fresh ones and everclear, did I do something wrong? Its been sitting for 3 months.

— Serrina

Hi Memee, If you would like a stronger flavor of strawberries you can change them out at 1 month intervals according to your preference. Store in a cool, dark, and dry place for best results. Extract shelf life is about 3-4 years when stored properly.

— VanillaPura Pro

I would like to try this but, how do you store it once it’s done? Do you have to take strawberries out and put new ones in?

— Memee

When using fresh or frozen fruit a higher alcohol is called for because of the dilution from water in the fruit. We recommend using Everclear or rum at 195% alcohol. If you are using frozen fruit, drain any excess water before adding it to your alcohol. Extracts do not need to be refrigerated. If kept in a cool dark place they can last several years. Over time you will notice the flavor weakening. Happy Extracting!

Making strawberry extract with frozen strawberries, do I need everclear or just vodka

— Nanc

Dont toss the drunk strawberry mush; use it in an adult smoothie or fruit slush.

— Susan

Hi! Is there a shelf life and am I correct you don’t need to swap out the fresh fruit? Thanks! ♥️

— Esther Karl

Do you switch out old strawberries for new within that 1-3 month period?

— Joanne Kelly

Yes, how long will it last? And does it need to be refrigerated???

— Sofia

Can I use sliced frozen strawberries?

— Jenel George

It states to put the finished extract in your favorite bottles or jars. How long will this last? Can you “can” it for storage?? I would love to make some now for the holidays.

— Wendy

Sounds amazing!! Doing it tomorrow!!
