Rare East Timor Vanilla Beans from Dili

VanillaPura's planifolia East Timor vanilla beans are of the highest quality and have a rich, dark aroma. These premium Grade A V. planifolia vanilla beans offer sweet vanilla with hints of tropical fruit and flora aroma, and bold sweetness with pronounced vanilla and floral undertones flavor. Named after Dili, the capital city of East Timor.Β

East Timor - A Nation with Rich Vanilla Heritage

This particular vanilla bean originates from the tropical region just north of Australia. Claimed by the Portuguese, then invaded and ruled by Indonesia and finally liberated as its own state just in 2002, East Timor is a people and a culture with a rich history and deep rooted identity and pride that is reflected in all of their agricultural exports, and especially with their vanilla beans.

Exceptionally Sweet Vanilla Aroma

When you first open a pouch of The Dili East Timor vanilla beans, your nose will be met with an exceptionally sweet vanilla scent that isn't always characteristic of planifolia vanilla beans. It's sweet, almost as if nature added a pinch of sugar to the aroma. Behind the sweet vanilla scent, you will quickly notice a soft hint of tropical fruit and flora.

Beautiful Elegant Vanilla Extract

After months (or even years) of extraction, your finished extract will demonstrate a beautiful and elegant vanilla sweetness with use applications in almost every culinary creation including creams, pastries, chocolate, savory dishes and more. For homemade vanilla extract, use the ratio of 1oz of beans for every 8oz of alcohol. For light spirits (vodka, white rum, gin), age up to 1 year. For dark spirits (bourbon, dark rum, brandy), age 18 months to 2 years for optimal flavor development. Visit our spirit pairing guide for detailed recommendations.

Premium Grade A Quality - Plump & Oily

The Dili East Timor vanilla beans are very oily and high in vanillin content. These are plump vanilla beans, and are usually between 5-7 inches long and have a dark brown color. Great for sugars, salts and powders when dried, in addition to their excellent use in extracts.

Versatile Culinary Applications

East Timor vanilla beans are perfect for a wide range of culinary applications including vanilla extract, vanilla sugar, vanilla salt, vanilla powder, creams, pastries, chocolate desserts, savory dishes, ice cream, custards, and more. The bold sweetness and pronounced vanilla flavor with floral undertones makes these beans incredibly versatile.

Only Available a Few Times a Year

These rare East Timor vanilla beans are only available a few times a year due to limited production and the small geographic region where they are grown. When available, they represent exceptional value and quality from a nation with deep pride in their vanilla heritage.
