LOVE getting vanilla beans. These beans are perfect for making extract.
As always, the beans are fresh, pump, oily and smell Devine!
How exciting to have a blend customized by a group expert! I wish it had a flavor profile listed online. I was originally going to put it in brandy but it smelled light and fresh, so I decided on vodka instead. Now for the wait.
Wow this is amazing! I love mint chocolate, and this peppermint mixture smells heavenly. I put mine in chocolate vodka to enhance the chocolaty flavor, I can’t wait to use it in drinks and ice cream and brownies!
Is like a sweet melody of vanilla essence. Now to pair these beans with the perfect alcohol. Thank youVP
Making vanilla extract is like watching paint dry only on a much higher level! There is something about creating a homemade extract that makes me happy. I can't explain it. VanillaPura the Company itself is like none other I've ever come across, they extract Goodness. These Uganda beans (1 lb) from the April Group buy are are currently extracting in the Woodford Reserve and the Bumbu Rum.
This extract blend smelled heavenly right out of the package. I added a 2 ounce package to 10 measured ounces of Wheatley Vodka, and I can’t wait until it’s ready! Chocolate/peppermint combo is my absolute favorite, and I know this will be fabulous! 😋
I just love the peppermint patina. It smells so very yummy. Lookong forward to when I can use it
I just received my Salatiga beans yesterday and made 2 batches of cocoa vanilla extract using rum. The vanilla beans were nice, plum and oily - as always. I went with these beans since they have a cocoa profile along with the caramel and mocha.

Amazing smell and beautiful beans!!!
This is going to be a wonderful extract! When I opened the bag, the peppermint smell was amazing!
I am looking forward to using this blend. I plan to use one order in vodka and another in honey whiskey. I have no doubt both will be amazing!

Hi Mary! If you’d like to make 1/2 strength vanilla extract then simply 1/2 the weight of vanilla that the calculator calculates. We wouldn’t recommend 1/2 fold though as the vanilla flavor might not be prominent enough. Hopefully this answers your question but let us know if we can help in any other way :-)
How do I calculate 1/2 fold?
Hi Linda! Vanilla Beans vary a lot in size so we prefer to weigh our beans to make sure we have the right amount. We recommend 1 oz of beans for every 8oz of alcohol. So for 5oz of alcohol you would need 0.6oz of beans for a single fold extract. For double fold extract you would need 1.2oz. Hope this helps, but let us know if you have any other questions :-)

I’m super excited to try these vanilla beans as I am a new creator of exquisite vanilla, which will be age 12 to 18 months!
My first extract experience!
Welcome Loraine! It’s going to be fun! Let us know if we can help along the way. Happy Extracting!
I’m excited to get started with my vanilla extract for next Christmas.
Hi Susan! Great point, you can absolutely still go with the general rule of 1oz of beans to 8oz of alcohol, this tool is just helpful for those times when you have more or less alcohol or want to try making a double fold extract, or if you want to check your calculations!
What happened the the “rule” of 1oz beans to 8oz alcohol?? Why the change?
This is such a great tool for novice vanilla extract makers! It completely takes the guess work or calculator gymnastics out of the equation!
