We've made it easy to start your first vanilla extract with one of Africa's finest vanilla beans. Ugandan vanilla is know for its strong vanilla taste with hints of figs and fried fruit making it a great extract by itself and a perfect bean to couple with your banana or other fruit extracts.
Simply choose whether you want grade A or grade B vanilla beans, then choose the bottle that you want in your kit, and you'll be ready to begin.
Grade A beans are usually oily, pliable and can be cut open to remove the caviar for use in other cooking applications in addition to their use in extract making. Whereas Grade B vanilla beans can be dry and even brittle. Grade B is great for extract making and, because they are drier, you will typically get more vanilla beans per ounce to use in your extract. Both will produce a fantastic extract. Grade A simply has more cooking applications.
This kit includes 1oz of Ugandan vanilla beans and an 8oz glass bottle.
To make your first extract with this kit, follow these 4 simple steps:
- Put all the vanilla beans in the bottle.
- If the beans are too tall, cut them in half (or fold them and insert them into the bottle fold first) to make sure they are fully submerged in the alcohol.
-
Fill the bottle with the alcohol you purchased. Leave a little air on top.
- Close the lid and store the extract in a cool/dark place for 12 months and...BOOM...your very own homemade vanilla extract!
