Welcome to Brazil. This beautiful Grade-A vanilla bean from Northern Brazil is all that you would expect from a region of the world famous for its coffee and soon for its vanilla. Indeed, vanilla beans are a relatively new crop for Brazil and we are excited to be one of the first distributors to offer it.
This vanilla bean is of the Planifolia species, making it a primarily classic, buttery vanilla base. But given its origin it also boasts of a chocolate/caramel undertone with a sweet and spicy vanilla kick. We named this bean The Olinda, after a beautiful, tropical beach town in Northern Brazil.
VanillaPura's Olinda Vanilla Beans are of the highest quality and come with a no-questions-asked satisfaction guarantee. They are dark, rich in oils and have a predominately strong vanilla aroma and taste when used in your extracts. All types of spirits will work when making extracts with this bean, so you have the freedom to choose what spirit you already love most.
When you first open a pouch of Olinda vanilla beans, your nose will be met with a bold, classic vanilla aroma. It's a simple, sweet, buttery and traditional vanilla experience but with subtle notes of a woody chocolate/caramel scent.

After months (or even years) of extraction, your finished Olinda Brazilian extract will present a strong vanilla aroma with earthy and rich undertones of chocolate and caramel, and a slight spicy and sweet aftertaste on the palate. This is a beautiful extract to add to your cooking arsenal with applications in cakes, cookies, pastries, creams, frostings and many traditional desserts that require classic vanilla extract.
Our Olinda Brazilian vanilla beans are very oily and rich with vanillin. They are usually between 4" and 6" inches long and have a dark brown color.
VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place.
