We are excited to introduce our first-ever vanilla bean from the Cook Islands. We named this rich, oily and fragrant bean after the capital city of the Cook Islands, Avarua.
This is a very difficult bean to find and is available in a very limited quantity, so its price is higher than most. It will stock out due to its low supply and high demand, and may not be available again for some time. It's a vanilla bean that has been requested many times by our customers that are chefs and culinary art enthusiasts.
Like all VanillaPura beans, the Avarua Cook Island beans are of the highest quality. They are plump, dark, extremely rich in oils and have a delicate and sweet floral fragrance that set them apart by any other beans. Their undertones are primarily a traditional vanilla aroma and taste when used for extract making, but with a soft anise and cherry finish. Light spirits like vodka, white rum and tequila are best when using this bean in your DIY extracts.
The location of the Cook Islands tells the story of this remarkable bean. North West of Tahiti, South of Hawaii and quite a distance from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, this tiny bean captures the essence of its remote location on our planet in a way that few other beans do.
When you first open a pouch of Avarua Cook Island vanilla beans, your nose will be met with a burst of tropical fauna and sweetness with a subtle anise accent. A flavor and aroma burst that teases the senses and enlivens your favorite desserts and pastries.

After months (or even years) of extraction, your finished Avarua Cook Island extract will demonstrate a sweet, fragrant, tropical, floral extract with concentrated vanilla sweetness.
These vanilla beans are very oily and rich with vanillin. They are usually between 4" and 7" inches long and have a dark brown color. Like all vanilla beans from VanillaPura, they are backed by our 100%, no questions asked satisfaction guarantee.
VanillaPura vanilla beans are all shipped vacuum sealed for freshness and should be stored unrefrigerated in a cool, dry and dark place.
On average, there are 6-10 beans/oz depending on the moisture content of the specific batch of vanilla beans. There can be as few as 5 beans or as many as 20 beans. Pricing reflects current market conditions and will be updated as market prices change.
