Ginger is a flowering plant that has been used as a spice since the mid-14th century. It originated in Southern Asia, growing annual stems about 3 feet tall bearing narrow green leaves and yellower flowers. Ginger powder is derived from the ginger root.
Fresh ginger can be substituted for ground ginger at a ratio of six to one, although the flavors of fresh and dried ginger are somewhat different. Powdered dry ginger root is typically used as a flavoring for recipes in cookies, snacks, cakes and even drinks.
As with all VanillaPura spices, our ginger is sourced from the highest quality farmers from around the world.
